Changes To The Pet Passport Scheme

If you're planning a trip abroad to Europe next summer it is now a lot easier to take your pet dog or cat with you.

From January 1st 2012 the regulations governing cross-border movement of animals have changed.

In order to comply with the new rules you will now only need to have a pet microchipped and vaccinated against rabies. Having completed these two steps we can issue you with a Pet Passport. This will allow you to travel using the passport 21 days after the rabies vaccination.

You will still have to have your pet treated by a veterinary surgeon against tapeworm before travelling back to the UK..

However, we would advise you to contact Rhyd Broughton before travelling abroad so we can advise you of the precautions you can take against diseases which are found there.
